This article is about actors that when given a role to play in a movie they seem to be so obsessed with their weight. They forget that they are causing a lot of health related problems in their bodies. My main concern about this issue is they forget that children are watching them and wanting to be them. Caryn James mentions a couple of examples, like how Renee Zellweger lost the weight and then gained. Another example Tom Hanks gained and lost 50 lbs for the movie
" Cast Away". These actors forget that they are role models and that they have an affect on teenagers. I grew up always wanting to be them and never saw myself as beautiful. No matter what I did to look like them I still never was truly happy. Until a friend of mine told me that I looked like a model. I gasped at the thought and ran with it. I started looking at myself differently and beautifully.
There are other ways to have the body for the role. One way is if you want to be heavier then you can wear a "fat suit" or if an actor wants to look thin computers can be an excellent way to help make the actor fit the role. I personally think that this is a serious matter and that it shouldn't be taken lightly. There are ways to fix this if only we look closer!

I think everyone has the right to express themselves. I do understand where you are coming from, but, personally disagree with actors having to keep in mind that children are watching and looking up to them. If that is a concern, it should be a concern on the parent's behalf. I think that this has a lot to do with my career.
ReplyDeleteToo many times people put blame on the movies, video games, or music. Instead of deflecting responsibility, parents should step up to the plate and be accountable for what their children are doing.
As an adult, I understand these actors put forth great efforts to portray a character.
I do agree that everyone has the right to express themselves, but at whose expense? Actors and Actress, not all, do forget that children are watching them and they want to be like them. Yes they are consider to be role models! So where do we start? It is or should not be all about who can get the academy award. It is a concern and it should be address both by parents and Hollywood. We both have to work together.
